This will be the last Introspective Short for a while.  My itch for self contained comics has been satisfied for now, and I will be putting more focus on updating Weekends With Carl twice a week.  Thanks to everyone for your comics and links.

Dan Olson noted that there has been a lot of anger in my comics lately.  Maybe its the heat.

Don’t let the last panel fool you, I had a blast at Twin Cities Zinefest 2008.  It was like the Bizarro version of a comic book convention.  Everything was anti-corporate and pro-D.I.Y.  The people who stopped by were actually interested in finding something new, and I got to meet a lot of intelligent, engaging people.  I hope they have it again next year!

For a long time I have been having problems with dizziness and joint pain.  I just figured I was getting older.  Then I read an article about how regular consumption of aspartame can lead to dizziness and jount paint, among other problems.  So I gave the diet cola up.

I had tried giving up diet cola before, and it was harder than giving up meat.  Seriously.  But for some reason, it was easier this time.  Maybe because I’ve finally realized how much that stuff was tearing me up.

…and then you die.

No Introspective Short this week.  I just couldn’t get it together this week.  In its stead, here is a comic I submitted for the Minneapolis alt-weekly City Pages.

We’ll see if they use it.  I admit its got more teeth than my usual comics.  Plus plenty of potentially offensive stereotypes.  I mean, does anybody really go to pride parades in Dorothy drag anymore?

I’ve been wanting to tell a joke like this since I created the character.

This comic is based on an article I read years ago. I found it amusing because, as you may have guessed, I’ve been sleeping on a futon for the past three years ago.

The funny this is that I’ve actually grown a goatee (er, van dyke) like this.

Wrapping it in newspaper also works.
