Last night I went to a comics jam with the International Cartoonist Conspiracy.  After the Jam we went to a bar where six talented artists contributed to a jam comic dedicated to me.  Those artists were:

Daniel and I started making webcomics around the same time and became fast friends through the Cartoonist Conspiracy.  He is a really nice guy with a lot of exciting projects coming up, including another edition of Super Fantastica Comix (minicomic zine), Shenanigans (a personal story about a high school reunion), and Brontosauraus Menz (which so far looks to be a tribute to Twin Cities comics culture).

This is a conversation I wish I was smart enough to have.  Even though I was a wannabe English major in college who hung around with genuine English majors, I had to look up just what Lupi was talking about here.  At first I was wondering why Sir or Ma’am weren’t considered formal pronouns, but then again no one says, “What does Sir want?” or “What is Ma’am looking at?”

Kevin works as a writer, artist, and/or editor on several titles, including The Amazing Adventures of the Escapist, Street Angel, The Seekers, Secret Police Comics, and more.  He was a regular at the St. Paul Cartoonist Conspiracy jams, where he would generously hand out free comics.  I have more comics than I can read now thanks to him.  He know works up in Milwaukee.

Vas Littlecrow is a functionally insane cartoonist/model and leader of the Rice, Minnesota cell of the Cartoonist Conspiracy.  She’s the nicest crazy person I’ve ever met.  There is an boundry-pushing, experimental quality to her comics that I like, and you can check them out at http://www.catnose.com (some material may be inappropriate for the workplace).

David Steinlicht specializes in observational comics with a distinctive visual style.  He makes a weekly comic for the Pioneer Press called Corner Comic.  You can also check out more of his comics at http://www.allsmall.net/.

He really doesn’t get the attention he deserves.  By that I mean he deserves more attention, not less.
