I was having fun drawing with some cartoonist friends last night. One of them, Lance Ward, draws a NSFW comic called Tater Tot Diaper Man. The comic started out as a collection of dirty jokes and violence but has since morphed into a journal comic. I drew my own take on his character (using a story I was thinking about using for Lutefisk Sushi’s Potty Humor Exhibit, if there’s going to be one this year).
You can find the comic at (DO NOT CLICK HERE IF YOU ARE AT WORK) at http://tatertotdiaperman.wordpress.com/2010/03/12/i-turned-them-to-the-dark-side/
SPACE, one of the comic conventions I attended last year, decided to offer a webcomic prize in addition to their usual book and minicomic prizes. I entered, figuring, What the heck? It’s not like I’m going to win the thing. A few months later I saw the finalists and said, Well, there’s no way I’m winning this thing.” The Book of Biff is better than my comic in every conceivable way. It’s better drawn, better colored, and funny five days a week. He’s got this in the bag.
Then I find out this week that I won the SPACE prize. There’s even an article in The Beat about it. I’m still kind of flabbergasted.
Indy Comic Book Week starts December 30th! As part of the celebration, I will have copies of L’il Buddha Loves You available at Source Comics and Games. I will also be at the Source Mini-Indy Con on December 30th, although I won’t have a table there. See you there!
I’ve been debating on whether or not I should make a comic for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving has become one of my least favorite holidays over the past few years. It’s a holiday dedicated to eating large amounts of meat and watching football. Instead of whining about what it was like to be a vegetarian on Thanksgiving, I thought I would make a subversive comic about what I was REALLY thankful for. Below is a sketch of what I had planned:

The punch line of this comic is false. I have a lot to be thankful for. I have made so many wonderful friends over the last few years. I have had the wonderful opportunity to make a comic I love and share it with the world. I have the freedom and flexibility to pursue my dreams.
But I thought I’d share the above comic because I thought it was funny.

I feel kind of embarrassed to be posting about this so late, but my friend Danno recently posted a Plunger-Man story we collaborated on at http://www.staplegenius.com. You can read the story from the beginning here.
