Distraction

Distraction

For the record, I do think it’s a good thing to discourage people from being distracted while driving.  I’m just amazed at how specific the laws can be.  For instance, it’s okay to drive with ear buds as long as only one bud is in your ear.  You can also play your car radio all you want.

I would write more, but I’ve got a million things to do to prepare for SPX this weekend.

In other news, it looks my comics may be a subject of the Geek Report, which will be recorded this weekend.  The topic is how I am an angrier Ryan Dow, which makes me nervous as I won’t be there to defend myself.  Should be good, though.

Hilarious, Ryan! This is a great social commentary. I am guilty of driving with my earbuds in, usually listening to a podcast. But most of the time I only drive with one of them in my ear. (But it’s always the right one, and when I pass a cop I either put my hand up and subtly scratch my face…or just pull it off completely. The earbud, not my face.)

But the scary thing is, the focus-detector might not be so unrealistic. You never know…

What’s funny is that I can think of several instances where I drove by a cop wearing headhpones. I only recently found out that it was against the law. I guess I just wasn’t worth their time.

I’m sure someone out there is working on a scientific meathod for measuring focus.
