L’il Buddha Foam Board Display

For SPACE next week, I am making a hand-painted display of L’il Buddha.  Here’s the progress so far:

lbs1lbs2I’m using cheap Crayola paints and brushes for this project.  I wanted to keep things cheap because I wasn’t really sure how well the display would work.   Also, whenever trying a new medium I like to start with cheap materials so I can appreciate good materials later.  I don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on brushes and paints only to find that I despise painting.  That’s how I roll.

I’m also working on a minicomic collection of all my past L’il Buddha strips.  Here’s the cover:

  1. Ryan, good to see you trying a new medium. How did you like using those paints? Hope you have a good show at SPACE.

P.S.: Totally unrelated….but, um, is that the IRON MAN DVD with the cool Target exclusive Iron Man helmet package? I got that one too!! (sorry for peaking around…!)

I’m pretty happy with the paints so far. I don’t expect them to last forever. Yeah, that is the Target DVD, which is a pretty sweet package.

  3. So, SPACE will be interesting. We are sitting next to each other, if you didn’t already see the layout. We have a pretty prime space, I think. Right next to the panel discussion room. SO! I’m guessing that your awesome Lil Buddha painting will draw even MORE people in!

I really wish I had more to offer than the few books that I have. Oh well.

more unrelated is that you have either a sonic movie or a comic book sitting in the background as well.

hope you guys have fun at SPACE.

That’s an instruction booklet from a PS2 collection of Sonic the Hedgehog games. I’ve gotten back into playing them for some reason.
