That’s right. I went ahead and recorded a podcast. Unfortunately, I have been having problems with Talkshoe and may need to find a new way to distribute it. More details later.
UPDATE: The Monkey Mind Meditation Journal is ON THE AIR! You can listen to it here:

Interesting that you call this the “monkey mind meditation” podcast. When I did study Tai Chi for about 10 months, the guy I was working out with (one of my fellow teachers at City, Inc) mentioned the monkey mind aspect and how it related to people, especially the students we were dealing with. When you mentioned the title, that brought me back to that discussion. Are you allowed any type of music when you meditate, or is that frowned on?
Most meditation experts I’ve listened to say there is no wrong way to meditate (unless of course you’re picking people off with a sniper rifle while meditating; that would be wrong). I think some people chant or focus on an object like a candle while meditating. So I would guess meditating while listening to music is okay. I am not an expert on these things.
As for the Monkey Mind, it is a pretty common phrase for the inane chatter that constantly goes on inside our heads. It is a metaphor about how our thinking can be like a monkey, constantly jumping from one thing to another with little thought or reflection. Part of meditation is listening to the monkey mind and seeing how it works.
Ryan, you should keep doing a podcast. I’d listen to any one you’d decide to do. You have a nice, calm voice and it’s nice to listen to.
Well, thank you!
Yes! The monkey of the mind has to do with the ego/conscious mind that must be transcended. I like how in Journey to the West, Monkey King solves every problem the travelers come up against…until they are required to compete in a meditation contest and he goes, “oh hell no, I’m not even gonna try that!”
I have a confession: I have never listened to a podcast before. I’m always too busy. But I’ll try to listen to this when AZ’s busy watching TV or something.
THAT WAS BOTH BRILLIANT AND ABSURD!
I was going to say its only about 4 minutes of content and 10 minutes of silence. Glad you enjoyed it!
Acutally, I was thinking today about comics, which led here, and then to the podcast… You could make a faux-superhero comic about that. ‘By day, an average, working man… By night… A COMICER!’
That does sound like a good idea for a comic. I don’t know if a super hero drawing would be as exciting to watch as a super hero flying and punching through walls, though.
