Siege Mentality. What a wonderful phrase. Siege Mentality. Ain’t no passing craze. Props to kaiki for introducing me to it.
I guess everyone’s insecure. Or maybe it’s hard to delegate our self-identity between how we see ourselves, how we WANT to see ourselves, how others see us and how we THINK others see us. It’s tough stuff to unravel, perhaps impossible. But I suppose that’s part of what makes us human. Sigh.
You know, when I was making this comic, I didn’t realize I was making YET ANOTHER comic about insecurity and about feeling out of touch with the world. I never set out to do these things. It just happens.
Nice “Z.” Have you been doing that for a while, or is that going to be your new thing?
That’s actually how I write Z’s in normal life. I think in past comics I’ve been avoiding doing that, but I’ve written z’s like that for so long it’s a hard habit to break. Usually I correct it after scanning in the artwork, but maybe I should just run with it instead.
HEY, why’d you make the meat-eater a dumb redneck? OMG, that’s so insulting to us omnivores! You jerk!
Fucking kidding
And why bother changing your Z’s? Just write the way you write.
Somehow saying “some meat-eaters” makes the sentence lose its impact. Plus making broad, sweeping generalizations is what siege mentality is all about!
The athieism panel pretty much sums up my life.
The vegetarian one kinda too…though that also usually involves
my uncooth co-worker showing me pictures of what meats (or deer hunting equipment) are on sale in the sunday circulars and then only after a
three minute rant about “WHAT SAVINGS!” does she realize: “Oh yeah, you’re a vegetarian…never mind.”
Nice Lion King reference XDD
I didn’t even realize I was making a lion king reference.
Oh, right. I forgot about what I put in the blog entry.
