You pretty much hit it on the head. Shakespeare wrote “To thine own self be true”, and you have to be honest with yourself, regardless of what other people are trying to “suggest” that you be. As well-meaning as some people are, it’s ultimately up to the individual as to which path to walk on. Once that’s established, other friends will come into the picture.
