Okay, I’ll admit it. This page was purely self-indulgent. It doesn’t have anything to do with the plot, but I couldn’t leave it out.

  1. I haven’t seen Predator 2. In fact, I haven’t seen any of the Predator movies. I’ve seen all of the Aliens movies, but, of course, not the ones including Predator. Are they any good?

  2. Ryan Dow says:

Predator 2 is pretty much a farce. It can be funny in a bad sort of way.

I have some unpleasant memories of the original Predator. My brother and sister were watching on the VHS. I was a bit of a scaredy-cat at the time, and they told, “Now, Ryan, there’s a guy who gets skinned alive in this movie. But don’t worry, it doesn’t happen until after *this character* says *this*.” So I watched the movie carefully waiting for the guy to say the line, so I would know when to bolt. Turns out my brother and sister were LYING, and then they laughed at me when I freaked out at seeing the big red skinned alive guy getting his heart eaten.

That’s what older brothers and sisters are for.

  3. Jon Sloan says:

Yeah, older sibling can be holy terrors, thank goodness my older sister wasn’t like that. I have seen Predator 2, and actually didn’t think it was that bad. Nice cameo with the Alien skull in there.

  4. Annerz says:

I found this maybe an hour ago and I’m addicted xD aaaiiiiee I can’t wait for next weeks installment…!

  5. Loops says:

hahaha. I never even saw the first Predator until 2 weeks ago. And that was the edited for tv version. Now I have to Netflix the *real* movie.

  6. Ryan Dow says:

To Jon – Yeah, Predator 2 isn’t really that bad. But it is really over-the-top. Then again, you shouldn’t go into a film like Predator 2 expecting nuanced emotions or subtle commentaries on the human existence.

To Annerz – Yes! Another fan! Thank you for your enthusiastic support!

To Loops – Actually, that reminds me of something my sixth grade teacher said. We were about to start watching a series of videes about the history of Iowa, and she said, “Just to warn you guys, there’s a point in one of these films where they cut up and butcher a pig. It’s really gross.” So we watched each video really intently, wondering, “Is this it? Is the episode where the pig gets butchered?” And then we get to the end of the series, and we’re like, “Wait, I thought you said a pig was going to get butchered.” And she said, “Naw, I just said that so you guys would pay attention.”

    HA!
I just watched ALIEN VS PREDATOR 2: REQUIEM last night.
Its safe to say between that movie, PREDATOR 2, and ALIEN 3 the franchises are pretty dead.
    …I hope…

  8. Ryan Dow says:

Noooo! It can’t die yet! I’m still waiting for the Alien Vs Predator Vs Batman movie to come out!

  9. stapledanno says:

well I’m still waiting for a proper adaption of the original ALIENS vs PREDATOR comic mini-series which made the whole idea of a crossover interesting to begin with.

I DON’T NEED TO SEE THEM FIGHTING ON EARTH!!!
THEY SHOULD BE FIGHTING ON AN ALIEN PLANET (though not THE alien planet)
    IN THE FLIPPIN’ FUTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    JUST LIKE IN THE COMIC!
    …am i wrong?!

  10. Ryan Dow says:

I wouldn’t know. The only VS title I’ve read was Tarzan vs. Predator: At the Earth’s Core. I’m not making that up. It’s Tarzan… vs. Predator… at the Earth’s Core!

  11. stapledanno says:

well…PREDATOR vs MAGNUS: ROBOT FIGHTER was also pretty ridiculous.
    I mean…the Predator isn’t a robot…right?

Also, as I was watching ALIEN vs PREDATOR 2 theres a scene of the Predators mostly desolate home world, which is full of strange HIGHLY TECHNOLOGICAL buildings.
Now…when the hell would a species who does nothing but hunt and kill find time to develop the kind of physics-defying technology they use in every film?

I know, I know…humans aren’t much better in that department, but I think we’re milleniums away from bending light and having thought controlled pulse cannons and smart-killer-frisbees and such. And frankly, I dont think we’ll make it that long.
So how…HOW!…did the Predator do it?

    Anyone?
