Look at the Sun!

Look at the Sun!

This comic was inspired by some of the absolutely beautiful weather we’ve been having in Minneapolis lately. Trying to depict sunlight in a grayscale comic was tricky. I got the idea to use white diagonal streaks from an old episode of Batman: The Animated Series (“Eternal Youth,” which I have on DVD). I originally planned to have more background detail, like fences and trees, but I didn’t want them to distract from the real star of the show, the Sun.

I also had a song from the original Willy Wonka movie stuck in my head while making this comic. “I’d never thought I’d see the day, when I would face the world and say, ‘Good Morning! Look at the Sun!’”

Mmmm. You know, when I lived in Colorado the Sun was a harsh, sizzling burden. But here, in Minnesota, where the skies can be overcast and gray for months on end… the sun is a golden blessing.
