This comic was inspired by a former coworker of mine who would go on an on about how important he felt it was to be honest. He would then proceed to share the most sordid, distasteful and unsolicited details of his life. I’m not saying that honesty is a bad thing, but restraint is also important. There are some things better left unsaid.
This comic also explains why I’m such a lousy conversationalist. Whenever someone says something interesting or provocative, I want to hit the brakes and dissect what they said, what they meant, and how I feel about it. I have a hard time with the sort of high-speed, interactive verbal ping-pong that so many people are fond of.

Great insight! And very true that being honest isn’t necessarily expressing EVERYThing floating around in your head. Sometimes I do that, and that becomes more of a burden to the listener. Being honest can mean being true to yourself and everything around you. Thoughts are only thoughts, words only thoughts “worded”.
